I'd Like to File a Formal Complaint With the City of New York

In a city of 8.3 million people, 5 diverse neighborhoods and 18,696 restaurants you would think that there would be at least one good barbeque joint. I'll admit that I'm a Kansan by birth and being that comes with a snobbery toward all meats thrown in a pit, so I may be a bit biased. But every barbeque restaurant that I have been pointed to has somehow come up short. There are multiple places in NYC that have a few things they get absolutely right but something is always awry with how I exit the places.
So far, the winner by default has been Fette Sau on Metropolitan Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn but only because the meat that they serve is by far the best in the city. Apparently a new spot called Fatty Cue in the same neighborhood has been making some noise over the last few months or so but it is disappointingly an asian fusion style barbeque. Don't get me wrong I'm all for this style of cuisine but seriously? It takes a fusion barbeque joint to get my fix of awesomeness in the form of pit barbeque?
There are thousands of amazing restaurants in the wonderland of food that is New York City but we can't put together a great place for New Yorkers to get traditional barbeque? There is something incredibly wrong about that picture my friends. But something so right about this one.
